Worsley Cricket Club, has a proud history. Formed in 1846 when the local landowner, the 1st Earl of Ellesmere, undertook the challenge to improve the lot of his tenants by upgrading the local facilities. He built a courthouse, new schools, new churches, a new home for himself and a new cricket club, though the Cricket Club was the priority.

Ellesmere Sports Club

Worsley Cricket Club is just one section of the Ellesmere Sports Club. The Club also has sections for bowls, tennis, croquet and squash. Playing members of any section can participate in any of these sports. The club also has a function room, which can be hired for weddings, birthdays, christenings, business meetings etc. Further details can be obtained by contacting the Club Manager and on this website.
