We hope you enjoy visiting our web site, and please feel free to visit our club during the season (situated behind the Cock Hotel on Walkden Rd, in Worsley) and see some great cricket, played in a beautiful setting.
Worsley Cricket Club, has a proud history. Formed in 1846 when the local landowner, the 1st Earl of Ellesmere, undertook the challenge to improve the lot of his tenants by upgrading the local facilities. He built a courthouse, new schools, new churches, a new home for himself and a new cricket club, though the Cricket Club was the priority.
A full and comprehensive history of Worsley Cricket Club from 1846 right up to the present day can be found in Tony Fare's bestselling book "For Future Generations and All Time". All proceeds go towards the club development so not only do you get a great read about the history of Worsley Cricket Club, you are investing in it's future.
We currently run 3 senior teams and 3 juniors teams for boys and girls at Under 12, 14 and 16 years of age.

Ellesmere Sports Club
Worsley Cricket Club is just one section of the Ellesmere Sports Club. The Club also has sections for bowls, tennis, croquet and squash. Playing members of any section can participate in any of these sports. The club also has a function room, which can be hired for weddings, birthdays, christenings, business meetings etc. Further details can be obtained by contacting the Club Manager and on this website.
