Sponsored Walk 2005

Ready and Raring to Go! Pre-Season Carbo Loading

The hardy folk of Worsley Cricket Club set off on their annual sponsored walk on Sunday the 3rd of April. Taking the odd local hostel along the way. They walked, staggered, ran or in some cases were carried on their merry way.

A big thanks must go to Dave McQuade who has left no stone unturned to get this event off the ground. He worked so hard that tiredenss eventually got the better of him and he was unable top complete the full walk, relying on Karen to ferry him between 2 of the "feeding stations".

Due to a very busy social schedule Chris Hall was unable to take part with the rest of the walking party so he decided he would run the 8 miles before everyone else had started. We expect Chris to be fit for cricket about the middle to end of September.

On a more positive not Danny MacKeown completed the full walk without injury and although he won't be playing the first few games of the season due to fatigue and general weariness..... this is much better than we could have hoped for.

All in all it was a day full of memories except for Andy Burton who cannot remeber a thing. Having drank a pint in each pub with the odd chaser to help on him on his way, it is rumoured Andy actually walked somewhere in the region of 14 miles.

Thanks to all those who got involved either by walking or sponsoring it does make a big difference
